HOW TO DRESS WELL: 7 FASHION TIPS FOR MEN

“Meh.” is the only thing you say every time you look in the mirror. We get how unimpressed you feel when you go for the same look every day. Same hair, same clothes, same accessories, and so on. If you want to stop getting bored of your reflection, then what are you waiting for? Elevate your look right away with our 7 men’s fashion tips! We’re going to help you dress well like you’ve never dressed before. From now on, your mirror will brighten every time you sparkle it with your keen eye for fashion. 1. GET TO KNOW YOUR PERSONAL STYLE Find inspirations that can shape your fashion taste.  If you think we added blog posts on universal fashion ideas you must follow, then think again. We give you the room to choose.   Don’t worry if you don’t know where to start. Get some ideas by going through magazines, blogs, social media, etc. Above all, get to know yourself and your interests. See what makes you who you are and the fashion styles that make you feel comfortable and confident.   If you don’t have your fashion taste figured out yet, it’s okay. Start with the classic men’s fashion tips, then upgrade to your own touch and accessories. After all, having a wardrobe filled with the classics is better than having nothing! 2. KNOW YOUR BODY SHAPE Your clothing should go hand-in-hand with your body shape. Wear the right clothes that fit your body shape. For those of you with an inverted-triangle-shaped body (chest and shoulders broader than waist and hips), add some volume to your lower body to even out your upper body. V necks, polo shirts, slim-fitting pants, and chinos work for inverted triangles. Rectangular bodies (shoulders aligned with waist and hips) should add some shape that change widths. Give your arms, shoulders, chest, and back some structure with blazer jackets to balance them out. Avoid striped clothes because your body will align with them, which can make you look bulky. Oval-shaped bodies (torso wider than shoulders and hips) should go for clothes that add shape to their silhouettes. Wear neutral-colored clothes to make your body longer and slimmer.    3. MAKE SURE YOUR CLOTHES FIT PERFECTLY Make sure your clothes fit well on you to showcase their style and vibes. If your outfits look too big or too small on you, then you murdered your clothes’ vibes on your body. To avoid this fashion disaster, make sure your clothes fit perfectly on you.  We get that oversized hoodies and pants are a mood, but if they’re too loose, they’ll make you look figureless. Tight clothes will make it harder for you to breathe and move. If you care about looking rad in your clothes, then consider finding a good tailor.  If there’s no chance of fixing them to your size, then it doesn’t mean you should discard them. Instead, donate them to NGOs or sell them to second-hand stores to give them a purpose again to others. If you own clothes that you no longer wear, sort them out in piles and donate them to NGOs or second-hand stores. If you own formal attires and no longer need them, donate them to Career Gear. They help men get ready for job interviews with the necessary apparel they can’t afford. It takes new or gently-used clothing, and they must be business-professional. Another international NGO like Goodwill recycles your second-hand items and avoids them from ending up in landfills. It accepts preloved clothes and other items, like books and furniture, in gentle condition. Arcenciel and Fabric Aid are Lebanese NGOs specializing in redistributing second-hand clothes and providing help to the less fortunate. Both organizations accept any clothes in good condition, as long as they’re not damaged or stained.     Second-hand stores help you resell your preloved items. Here are some of our favorites in Lebanon.  If you own retro pieces, then get in touch with Thriftiz.lb. It accepts clothes in very good condition.   PinkAttikis a thrift shop co-founded by Elsa O (you can take a look at our collaboration with her and Loolia Closet on Suis Moi Je Suis Là Socks). It welcomes fast fashion outfits (cheap clothes made at a fast rate) in good condition. Have them washed and prepared before donating. They also take shoes, accessories, and bags.  Second Base resells vintage and hipster preloved items in good condition. For every purchase they make, you get 25% cashback and the clothes go to Fabric Aid. You can also sell your branded clothes (like Zara and H&M) to Souk Okaz in good condition. The better the brand, the higher the chance they’ll buy clothes from you.   Vintage Soul 101 is interested in rare vintage pieces that are in good condition. It decides if it buys or donates your clothes. 4. DRESS FOR THE OCCASION Even though self-expression is the key to dressing well, keep in mind the occasion. Dress appropriately according to the event’s dress code. Wear the correct type of shoes for your outfits. If suits are mandatory, accessorize them. If the event doesn’t restrict you from going sockless, go for moccasins or sandals. If you have no formal engagements, dress in casual wear. 5. ADD ACCESSORIES, BUT DON’T GO OVERBOARD Accessories help brighten your look. Make sure not to add too many, or your look can come off as heavy. Add accessories to illuminate you and your outfits, such as cufflinks for suits and bracelets for an outing. Make sure not to overdo it with your choices. Too many can look heavy and uncoordinated.  Ever thought of your hair as an accessory? Well, it’s not an accessory per se, but good hairstyles can be a statement and play the role of an accessory. 6. LEARN HOW TO LAYER YOUR CLOTHES Layering your clothes makes your outfits look stylish. Another way to escape your “meh.” sensation is with this style: layering your clothes. Combining apparel and colors gives a nice feel to your basic outfits.  First, layer up to 3 pieces of clothing. More layers will make you look overstuffed and shapeless.  Second, think about each layers’ roles. Wear inner light clothes that directly touch your skin for breathability and moist

10 CASUAL WEAR MUST-HAVES FOR MEN TO WEAR ON WEEKENDS

Work mode off, and weekend mode on! Slam dunk your work outfits into the laundry basket, put on some casual wear, and let loose for the weekend. Here are 10 casual wear must-haves for men to rock in before Monday comes back to town. 1. TRACKSUITS: THE GO-TO CASUAL WEAR If you want the ultimate casual look this weekend, try the “casuals” (aka tracksuits). Go for the casual of all casuals this weekend: The “casuals” (aka tracksuits). Put on a sweatshirt and a wide pair of joggers to let your body soothe from tight clothes for the next 3 days. Add a pair of running shoes or sneakers to the whole look. 2. SHORTS MAKE YOUR WEEKEND LOOK MORE CASUAL Dress up in shorts on weekends to soothe your legs from tight pants. If the “casuals” are the most casual a man can wear, how about shorts? Not only do they hang loose on your legs but they also let them breathe. For the next Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, put on a pair and let the wind hit your legs as much as possible. Trust us; it’ll complete your weekend mood.  Some fashion tips to consider: Dress up in shorts with a regular t-shirt to look super casual, and polo shirts for a polished look. Cotton and linen are the ideal materials for shorts. Let your shorts’ colors reflect the warm season, mainly lighter blue, red, beige, yellow, and pink.  3. RIPPED JEANS FOR A TOUCH OF RELAXATION  Go for ripped jeans if you want to relax while partying this weekend. If you’re invited to a party this weekend and you still want to feel relaxed, put on a pair of distressed jeans (aka ripped jeans). Thanks to the jeans’ ripped holes, they make your pants less tight and more breathable for your legs. Every time you walk or take a seat, your legs and knees are getting the fresh air they deserve from having to tolerate with tight trousers all week long.   Ripped pants also act as a statement piece. Having them on makes you appear restful and casual, which is precisely our point! Make a more prominent fashion statement in blazers, button-down shirts, overcoats, and hoodies to experiment with rip-less and ripped pieces together. 4. PAJAMAS: IF YOU’RE STAYING HOME Put on pajamas if you’re staying home this weekend. If you have no plans this weekend, stay in your pajamas.  Pajamas push you to be lazy and do absolutely nothing for the whole weekend. Create the perfect mood in them by lying in bed, watching Netflix series, and putting on socks. If it’s cloudy outside, go for our signature Kankane Sikasoks! 5. ACCESSORIZE WHEN YOU GO OUT For the next 3 days, show off your accessories that were hiding and getting in the way of your work.  Some workplaces follow dress codes that don’t allow accessories. For those that permit them, the accessories you put on get in the way of your work. We know, it’s a real pain in the—.  When Friday comes knocking at your door, welcome it with the accessories you love to have on the most. Unbutton your shirt’s top and roll up your sleeves to show off the necklace, bracelets, and watch that were hiding or getting in your way. Pull up your pants to show the funky colorful socks that add zest to your whole outfit.   If you’re attending an event this weekend, check out some suit accessories that you can make a display out of them. 6. HAVE SOME STATEMENT PIECES ON Weekends move you away from formal attires. Put on statement pieces that tell so much about you! When the weekend arrives, ditch your formal attires and go for statement pieces that represent the real you! If you love wearing printed shirts with flowers, wear them. If you own a hoodie with Adele’s face all over it, wear it. If you want to put on funky socks, wear them! 7. GO FOR BUSINESS CASUAL IF YOU’RE WORKING Dress up in business casual outfits if you have to come in to work on Saturdays. If you have to work on Saturdays, go for business casual outfits. That’s the only day of the week where some people don’t come in, which gives you the chance to leave formal clothes at home. Put on chinos, sweaters, loafers, jeans, or even sneakers. If you want more tips on matching jeans and chinos with shoes, find out right here. 8. GO FOR A RUN IN THE RIGHT RUNNING OUTFIT  If you want to jog this weekend, wear running outfits that don’t ache your body. Going jogging this weekend? Consider the running outfits you want to jog in. Don’t put on the wrong pieces that can bruise your body before starting another tiring week. Our blog post on running gears for beginners should assist you with picking the right outfit and socks. If you’re doubtful of the running shoes you own, measure your feet and get new ones. 9. BUTTON-DOWN SHIRTS: IF YOU’RE GOING OUT For an elegant yet casual look on Friday and Saturday nights, wear button-down shirts. If you still want to dazzle in events without a suit on weekends, go for button-down shirts. They give an elegant and casual feel to your whole look. You can also wear them like a jacket and add a shirt underneath to make your look even more casual. 10. ROCK THIS WEEKEND IN FUNKY SOCKS! When Friday arrives, unleash your inner funk with funky socks! We’ve saved the best casual wear for men for last: funky socks. When you’re back home after a long week at work, put on some funky socks to unleash your inner funk. Let them scream how much you missed having your personality printed on your outfits! HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT SPORTS SOCKS FOR BALL GAMES

If you’ll play the next ball game with any sock you pick from your drawer, then get ready to make your team lose.   Not all the socks you own pass for ball games. Having wrong socks on adds pressure and blisters on your feet. If you don’t want that to happen, find out the right sports socks for the ball games listed in this blog post. You’ll guarantee victory if your feet get the right protection and comfort needed for full endurance. If this blog post changes your feet forever, shoot some hoops in our honor! 1. BALL GAMES: THE RULES Before we dig deep into the article, let’s give you some general pointers to follow when playing ball games.  Intense and long ball games can welcome your feet with pain and blisters. This can happen by wearing shoes and/or socks that don’t work well with the game. In the case of socks, you might have been wearing cotton socks that do nothing but absorb moisture, which paves the way for damp feet and blisters. They also lack cushioning layers that add comfort to your feet when you’re in motion. So, what kind of socks should you have on if you partake in extreme ball games? It’s DEFINITELY not going to be cotton. Sports socks are the ideal socks that work for all the ball games in this text.  Sports socks, also known as crew or athletic socks, are made of synthetic fibers that offer so much for your feet. They wick away moisture that keep them dry from blisters and bacterial build-ups. They also include cushioning layers that soothe pain and protect your feet from injuries. See why your team lost? Wrong socks equal bad feet, and bad feet equal losing your chances of winning.    Protecting your feet during ball games isn’t enough. You should protect your entire body too. Wear gears to prevent getting in a hospital bed. Keep in mind the ball game as well to get the suitable gear. For example, get elbow pads for basketball games that protect your elbows when you fall on the ground. Get shin guards for football (or soccer for our US readers) games that avoid bruises and pains.  Now that you have some 101 rules on ball games, let’s head to the article’s main point: going for the right sports socks. 2. BASKETBALL: CONSIDER SOCKS HEIGHT Basketball requires crew-cut, mid-cut, or low-cut socks for higher performance, cushioning, and ankle support. Basketball players used to wear knee-high socks for higher performance, cushioning, and ankle support. Now, these socks have become obsolete with compression pants as substitutes. They are worn for enhanced circulation and faster leg muscle recoveries.  If knee-high socks are yesterday’s news, it doesn’t mean that you still can’t buy socks for basketball. Today’s basketball crew socks are cut into 3 heights with the technical features included for endurance. Crew-cuts go up to your shin’s center. Mid-cuts reach right above your ankle. Low-cuts go right below your ankle. 3. FOOTBALL: MUST COVER SHIN GUARDS For football (or soccer), get sports socks that must cover your shin guards. Credits: Vocal. Another ball game that people overlook to dress properly for is football (or soccer). If you don’t wear protective gears and sports socks, someone stealing the ball from you can kick you in the leg. It hurts just thinking about it. For ball games like football, go for athletic socks that cover your shin guards. They maintain the shin guards in place to avoid them slipping off. 4. TENNIS: BREATHABLE, HIGH ANKLE SOCKS Tennis requires sports socks that go above the ankle for sweat absorption and shoe rubbing resistance. Summer tennis tournaments always get heated, literally.  Long matches under the sun make your body drip in sweat when you have to run around and hit the tennis ball. If you’ve been playing in cotton socks, then your brain must have gotten fried without your knowledge.  Crew socks are in order for this ball game. They must be breathable to avoid excessive moisture on your feet. They must be high ankle too. This height stops your shoes’ rubber from rubbing on your ankles when you’re running across the tennis court.  5. VOLLEYBALL: PICK SOCKS DEPENDING ON YOUR ROLE If you often dive in volleyball, wear knee-high socks and shin guards to avoid bruised knees. Like all the ball games above, volleyball requires a lot of movement. The socks worn depend on the players’ roles. For those who dive, knee-high sports socks and shin guards prevent bruised knees. For the rest of the players, wear other crew socks as long as they have synthetic fibers to wick away sweat.  So let’s review: basketball: socks with varying heights, football: socks should cover your shin guards, tennis: above the ankle and handle pressure, and volleyball: depends on the player’s role. Remember to wear sports socks for all ball games to avoid blisters and comfort your feet. Our Sports Sikasoks should come in handy for your next ball games! If you want more help in finding the ideal socks for you, we already read your minds.
