HOW TO ORGANIZE YOUR SOCK DRAWER

Is your sock drawer always messy and disorganized? Do you take forever to find the socks you want to wear because they’re underneath all the others? If it’s your daily dilemma, then we’re here to end it. This blog post gives you 5 tips on organizing your sock drawer very neatly. If it’s overflowing, get a shovel and empty it before you get started! 1. PROPER FOLDING Your sock drawer may be messy because you fold socks into big rolls. This can make your collection of socks overlap each other and take up a lot of space in your drawer. Fold your socks into smaller rolls to make room for all the socks in your drawer. 2. ORGANIZE YOUR SOCK DRAWER BY COLOR Make your sock drawer colorful by organizing your socks by color. Organize your socks by color to add a colorful touch to your sock drawer. Group them like a rainbow or have each row linked to a particular color with fading shades. For example, assemble a row of blue socks from dark to light blue. 3. ARRANGE YOUR SOCK DRAWER BY DESIGN Organize your sock drawer by design to find your socks very easily. Arrange your sock drawer by your socks’ designs for simple tracking. This tip also makes your drawer more presentable by displaying prints. We suggest funky socks on one side of the drawer, striped socks on the other, and basics in the center. 4. ADD DIVIDERS Add dividers in your sock drawer to separate socks by color, design, fabric, etc. You can also use them to isolate your socks from your underwear if you don’t have a sock drawer. Watch our tutorial on making your own divider below. You can also follow the steps here.  5. CHOOSE SPECIAL SPOTS INSTEAD If you and your family share the same socks, reserve special spots in your house to easily track them! If you are not into drawers, find special spots in your house to locate your socks. Choose a shoe rack or a basket as spots to save everyone time from rummaging from sock drawer to sock drawer! If you want the best guide on organizing sock drawers, we suggest 1. Folding socks into small rolls, 2. Organizing by color, 3. Arranging by style, 4. Adding dividers, and 5. Choosing a special spot if you share your socks with others. Do you want other caring tips for your socks? Check them out right here.

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR SHOES AND SOCKS

Are your shoes and socks scattered all over your bedroom? Are you too lazy to even lift a finger and get them cleaned? If you answered yes to either question or both (and that’s just 2 problems out of many), then we need to have a serious talk. Sit down and read carefully. You can’t just treat your shoes and socks like waste. If you’re careless about them, you can end up losing half of the pairs, having a hard time getting them squeaky clean again, or worse—losing all of them to a vortex that “mysteriously” suck them into another dimension! It would be best if you were as responsible for your shoes and socks as the neatly organized outfits you have in your wardrobe. This blog post gives you 5 ways to care for them. You’ll guarantee to keep your shoes and socks longer in your closet. 1. PICK THE RIGHT SHOES AND SOCKS FOR YOUR FEET Know your foot type to get well-fitted shoes and socks. First things first, let’s tackle the pairs you stopped wearing or wore a couple of times that are now in spiderwebs. We’re guessing that you stopped wearing them because they’re not the right fit for your feet. Boost your potential to care for your shoes and socks by getting the right ones that don’t harm your feet. For shoes, take the wet test and determine your foot shape by the arch marked on a towel. Know the correct shoe size as well by measuring your feet. You can use a ruler, measuring tape, or the Brannock device to estimate the length and width of your feet. Consult a podiatrist or a shoe technician to give you more accurate readings and assign you the right shoes. For socks, think about fit and fabric. The socks should fit closely to your feet to provide all the protection, comfort, and sweat absorption needed. Fabrics like cotton and wool are ideal and friendly to the skin. Ask your podiatrist to analyze your feet and determine the suitable materials necessary for your skin for a better assessment. 2. CHANGE YOUR SHOES AND SOCKS ON TIME Change your shoes and socks if they’re no longer useful. Go over all your shoes and socks. Find out which ones to keep and which ones to throw away that you may have outgrown and/or mistreated. If your own shoes that have become too painful on your feet, then it’s a sign that you must replace them. The shoes’ overall structures determine whether or not you own wrong shoes. Take a look at the outsoles (the bottom part of your shoes). They are responsible for giving your feet some grip on the ground. If the outsoles are ripped or look uneven when the shoes are on a flat surface, they’re damaged and make you lose grip. Check out your shoes’ midsoles (the middle cushioning layer) that are responsible for shock absorption. If they look wrinkly, then you may have passed the midsoles’ limit needed to do their job. See the shoes’ inners for any holes or ripped heel cups. If you wear holes and ripped cups, you can welcome your feet with pain and pressure. For socks, see if they have any ripped holes. Too many holes leave your feet unprotected from pain and the cold. If their elasticity is loose, this is another sign that you must change them. Loose socks pave the way for painful friction to rub on your feet. If you love a specific pair of shoes and they’re no longer what they used to be, you can revive them. You’ll make them good as new with these tips. 3. CLEAN AND WASH YOUR SHOES AND SOCKS Clean your shoes and socks if you don’t want them to be dirty or smelly. There’s no reason to abandon your shoes and socks if they’re dirty or smelly. Clean your shoes with a shoe brush or a discarded toothbrush and brush off all the dirt. Apply a shoe polish or a mild laundry detergent to synthetic leather and canvas materials. Rub the shoes’ surfaces gently afterward. Once they dry off, make them shine bright by dabbing a bit of water on them. Now your shoes look so brand new that they’ll get you excited to wear them again! If you own canvas or running shoes and want a faster cleaning process, wash them in a washing machine. Use liquid detergent and wash them at a cool temperature for about 30 to 40 minutes. For a quieter wash, add 4 to 6 towels to the washing machine. Dry the wet shoes outside and NEVER use a dryer. It can disassemble the glue that holds the shoes together. Don’t clean your shoes’ outers only—wash their inners too. You definitely don’t want stinky shoes slowly rotting away in your closet. Baking soda, sunlight, bar soaps, fruit peels, and a freezer (yes, the half of a refrigerator!) can do away with the smells. Find out more by clicking here. Washing your socks requires delicate procedures to follow. They include flipping socks inside out, separating colors, using the proper temperatures, and applying homemade remedies. Find out how to wash your socks properly right here. 4. PACK AWAY YOUR SHOES AND SOCKS THE RIGHT WAY Organizing your shoes and socks will guarantee to find them very easily. If you want to find shoes and socks easily, then you must get organized. It all goes back to how you pack them away. If you thought we provided a long point on shoe boxes, then think again. Shoe boxes don’t exactly protect your shoes. They do nothing but reduce airflow, break down the footwear’s glue, and build moisture on their surfaces. Pack them in shoe racks instead. They are spacious enough to keep your shoes organized and maintain airflow. If your budget allows, buy a long shoe rack to keep all your footwear on display instead of them away. Organize and fold your socks in sock drawers. With a neat sock drawer, you’ll be able to find your socks very easily. Insider’s tip: make your own DIY drawer dividers in

HOW TO CHOOSE SHOES, SOCKS, CLOTHES, AND MORE

You decided to give running a try to get in shape. You’re thinking of getting new running clothes, shoes, and other items to start your new goal. We’re proud to see that you want a healthier lifestyle, but don’t spend a fortune on gears you don’t need. We give you a beginner’s guide on what to get for running. Follow the 9 points below. 1. CONSIDER THE WEATHER First of all, choose running sportswear that fits the weather. Go for compression tops, thin jackets, vests, and leggings that provide warmth. You don’t need to have a lot of layers on when running on a cold day. You’ll get warm by your muscles as you accelerate. If it’s freezing out, put on a padded jacket, gloves, and a beanie. If it’s raining cats and dogs outside, it doesn’t mean the weather ruined your jogging day. With compression pants, opt for a waterproof jacket to stop you from getting wet. When you’re running on a hot summer day, make sure to have summer sportswear that is loose on your body and keeps you cool. Wear a tank top and shorts to avoid draining in sweat. Apply some sunscreen with high SPF as well if you’re running outside for a long time. 2. THINK ABOUT FIT Think about the sportswear’s fit on you. Unfitted clothes may not give off the properties needed for your body when you’re in motion. They also shouldn’t be too tight or too loose on you. 3. CHOOSE COMFORTABLE RUNNING SHOES Choose running shoes that are comfortable and fit well on your feet  Put your cravings aside for shoes that are bright, cute, high quality, or “I must have it. It’s out of the question!”. Don’t choose fashion over comfort, or you’ll welcome your feet with loads of pain. Make the right choice by getting comfortable footwear that fits your foot type. Before buying new shoes, check if your old running shoes are still in good condition. If they’re not, do the wet test and measure your feet to get the ideal shoes. If you need more help, go to any running specialty store. Experts measure and test your feet on a treadmill to match you with the perfect running shoes. You’re probably wondering if you can use your running shoes for other activities, such as walking. You can, but their properties won’t work depending on your speed and the contact your feet make with the ground. Go for a pair of walking shoes instead. They include the needed heels, arch support, and cushioning needed for walking. 4.  CHOOSE RUNNING-SPECIFIC SPORTS SOCKS Make sure to get running-specific sports socks that can absorb sweat and avoid injuries. Add socks to your list when you’re out shopping for new running gear. Don’t go with the cotton socks you have in your drawers. It’s not a suitable fabric for running. Cotton’s inability to absorb enough sweat leaves your feet soft and moist, paving the way for blisters. “Hello [moisture], my old friend” is what your feet always say if you often run in cotton socks. Credits: Tenor Get sports socks for running. Their high-quality synthetic materials (such as polyester and acrylic) remove moisture from your feet and reduce blisters. 5. CHOOSE THE PERFECT RUNNING SHORTS, TIGHTS, AND TOPS Get the right running shorts, tights, and tops that reduce moisture, add comfort, and fit well on you. Once again, don’t favor fashion over comfort when buying running shorts, tights, and tops. Get those that reduce moisture, provide comfort, and fit you well. Choose a pair of running shorts with a drawstring that allows you to tie them to your comfort. Get tights that are protective and adjustable for any weather. Add cuffs on your tops’ long sleeves to avoid them rolling up when you’re running in the wind. 6. PUT ON A PAIR OF WELL-FITTED SPORTS BRA Sports bras are essential to keep the breasts in place while running. Another item in our Running Gear 101 guide is a pair of sports bras. Since women’s breasts disconnect from the body’s muscles, they move independently with only the skin holding them. Sports bras fit the breasts and prevent them from breast pains and constant fidgeting. You can add paddings in your sports bra that work well with your breasts’ measurements. They also include materials that wick away sweat. 7. GET A RUNNING HAT Our moms always tell us to wear hats for our safety when we go for a jog. We neglect that request and go out anyway. This time, we expect you to put one on for running. We’re dead serious. Credits: Tenor We urge you to get running hats that stop excessive sweating, shield your eyes from the sun, and keep your hair in place. There are 3 running hats that you can choose. The performance running hat has a breathable material that works for any run. The trucker hat offers sun preservation and an open back for more breathability. The running visor hat is open from the top and reduces sunlight from getting into your eyes. The 3 hats you must wear for running: performance running hat, trucker hat, and running visor hat. 8. CARRY A WATER BOTTLE TO STAY HYDRATED Stay hydrated by carrying a water bottle. When you run, carry with you a water bottle to stay hydrated. If you don’t want to drop your bottle or tire your fingers from holding one, carry a handheld running water bottle instead. With a strap attached, you’ll be able to keep a good hold of it. 9. ADD ACCESSORIES WHEN RUNNING Carry some running accessories, like phone holders and fanny packs, to keep hold of your things. Finally, add some running accessories. Consider a smartwatch that tracks and monitors your training. Carry a fanny pack around your waist to pack your belongings in it. Put a phone holder on your arm to keep hold of your phone. You can also adjust it around your arm the way you like. Here’s a quick revision of the Running Gear 101 class: 1. Think about the weather to get the gear needed, 2. Get
